As a regular contributor over two decades to the Independent Schools PSHE and well-being programmes, and as a result of her public profile as a parenting expert, founder Mandy Saligari and her team are able to provide unparalleled support for parents wanting to give their children a healthy start.
At CHARTER we have a team of therapists who work regularly with families to address communication breakdowns and destructive cycles of misunderstanding and resentment. Based on her model of Parenting for Prevention, Mandy and her team can help you to be in charge and to regain your confidence as a ‘good enough’ parent. In addition, from 2017, Noel Janis and her team from the Calmer Parenting Group will deliver her successful workshops and parenting programmes from our New Cavendish Street address.
Sometimes, as children grow up and as people change, communication breaks down and respect seems lost, causing rifts and conflicts that are painful to experience and awful to bear witness to. In families this is most common when either a significant change occurs, or as children transition through their teen years. We frequently get asked about how to manage gaming and social media use, about advice regarding drugs, how to teach safe alcohol consumption and so many questions about dating and sex. This all gets even more complicated when an addiction or mental illness is additionally involved as interactions can quickly become intolerable and even dangerous. Learning about your own feelings and how you express them, the developmental process and how to maintain respectful boundaries are all vital in successfully navigating these challenges.
At CHARTER we believe that the well-being of any family starts at the top. So whenever there is a problem with the children, it is enormously helpful to work with the couple too, even if they are divorced or separated.
Our marriage and couples work is based on the belief that we choose who we fall in love with, a fascinating take on social interaction that encourages self awareness and curiosity in relationship. We can explore the impact of the couple on the resulting family dynamic and unravel arguments and disagreements that may be explicit and visible or displaced so that another family member becomes scapegoated as ‘difficult’. What’s interesting here is when nothing seems to fix the apparent problem…its likely that you haven’t yet found the real ‘problem’.
It is not uncommon for people to leave it until there is a crisis before they come for therapy, or wait until all other options have failed, but increasingly we are able to provide interventions at an ever earlier stage. We are here to help, it’s our passion, so please do not hesitate to give us a call and see what we can do.
We have a vast amount of experience helping parents and familiies and are always happy to answer any questions you may have. You can make an appointment with our assessment team using our Enquiry Form below or simply give us a call so that we can discuss your treatment options and how we can help you or a member of your family.
