Now in its 9th year, CHARTER Harley Street is well-established as a leading central London facility, treating trauma and addiction, and promoting well-being through focused, flexible and effective daycare at highly competitive rates. We treat substance abuse and process addictions with great success, and most people who gain recovery here attend our flagship Intensive Outpatient Programme (IOP) which is highly effective and very popular and runs Monday-Friday 0900-1730.
Although we offer 4, 6 and 8 week programmes, the clinical work we do here at CHARTER is individualised, responding to whatever is going on for the people in the room so every hour you spend here is relevant to YOU.
The CHARTER method is a programme of action. We do look at the past but our attention is never far from the present, always helping you to see that change is possible – in fact that it’s already happening.
The groups are a mixture of male and female, and the average age of participants in the group regularly changes. We regularly drug and alcohol test to ensure the group is clean and sober and a safe place, and proactively support people around eating healthily. We prefer you keep phone and laptop use to a minimum and to engage with this exciting opportunity to get well as much as you can.
There are a minimum of 3-4 group therapy sessions each day of about 60-90 mins each, Some are free flowing where you talk about whatever is on your mind, some are psycho-educational to explain theory and evidence, and others are more structured to target something specific that has come up, or to present work you have prepared. On some days you will have an individual session with your therapist too, or attend a family or couples session. We believe that what works works so will continually adjust your careplan as you go along to ensure it is always relevant.
While you are with us we will help you to relearn your patterns around self-care, so that you develop a series of healthy habits to help you maintain your new way of life. This may include the 12 step model and fellowship which we always encourage people to attend while they are in treatment with us, even if they don’t like it, as we are interested to explore their experiences there, good or bad.
We also work with families as we know this is rarely just about the individual, so we invite you to include the people that matter to you in your treatment process too. Our treatment programmes reflect this philosophy so that we are truly flexible in our approach and able to provide effective care in many different ways. This may mean that the individual client starts on the IOP and transitions to another less intensive programme of care as they get better, or it may mean that their loved one or family also attend their own programme of treatment here through the family services network. Then we work with you together to better align your recovery journeys.
We promise to do all we can to make sure that your treatment is the best investment you have ever made, so you get your life back on track.
Treating all forms of addiction, codependence and eating disorders through a relational approach in group therapy and individual counselling, the IOP typically lasts 4-8 weeks Monday to Friday.
